What Motorcycle Apparel to Pack for a Trip

When you’re about to head out on a road trip on your motorcycle, you need to make sure that you are packing all of the right motorcycle apparel to take along. Depending on the length of your trip, you may need more or less clothing, but everything else will be the same. Justin Schamotta brings us some motorcycle travel tips on USA Today. You can use this list as your guide when packing for your long ride.

The first thing Schamotta suggests is packing thin clothing items. You can pack more this way, and can always layer up your clothes if it gets cold. If you decide to pack only a few thicker items, then you won’t be able to pack enough clothing to last your entire trip. Wearing a touring suit that is specially made for long rides in whatever weather conditions occur will protect you from the elements while you’re driving.

He also suggests taking along non-apparel items, such as tools and a map. In case of an emergency, you’re going to want some tools handy to fix a problem. There may not be a mechanic around. Not to mention, you may not have a bunch of extra money to spare to pay for the repairs. If you’re going on a long trip alone, it’s a good idea to learn how to do at least some basic fixes for your motorcycle yourself. Then you’ll be prepared in case something does end up happening.

You can easily stop along the highway and get some fast food, as Youtuber, Itchymoche, describes in his video about packing for the long run. However, him and Schamotta both agree that it’s a good idea to bring along some protein bars. The long rides will wear you out, and the protein is necessary to keep you going. Plus, if you’re on the highway, who knows how far it will be to the next fast food place or gas station. You need to be prepared, and should bring some water bottles along as well.

Itchymoche also recommends bringing along a camping tent and self-inflatable mattress. If you want to pay to stay at a hotel you can, but you can save a lot of money by just packing up your own small tent. It’s also good to bring an extra leather jacket, particularly one that’s warm with extra padding on the inside. It will be good to have while you’re riding at night.

There are plenty of motorcycle apparel items, gear, and other things that are necessary when going for a long trip on your motorcycle. Be sure that you double check and pack everything you need. You don’t want to be out on the road and without something.
